What is a VPN?
A VPN is a virtual private network. It allows you to create a private, secure connection to the internet. A VPN also hides your IP address and encrypts your connection, which prevents eavesdroppers and other hackers from accessing your data.
A VPN creates a virtual data “tunnel,” and all of your web traffic routes through that private tunnel, via privately owned, fully secure servers. This secures your data and communications while allowing you to access content from anywhere in the world.
A VPN works across your entire device, so any browser you use to access the internet will use your VPN connection.
Does AdBlock VPN block ads?
Yes! In April 2026, we released new and improved versions to all of our supported platforms that provide ad blocking and threat protection at the network level.
One of the most notable aspects of our latest version is straightforward: previous versions of the AdBlock VPN apps did not block ads. Despite carrying the AdBlock name, they were standard VPN-only products with no filtering capability. Our new infrastructure changes this. By routing your traffic through VPN tunneling, the expected ad blocking functionality is now actually delivered. For the first time we're pleased to say "AdBlock VPN" lives up to its name.
How many devices can I connect?
You can sign into the VPN on up to 6 devices. Simply install the app on a device where you want to use it and sign in with the email you used to purchase.
What type of encryption does the VPN use?
AdBlock VPN uses 256-bit Advanced Encryption Standard (AES-26). AES-26 is the global standard for data encryption. The “256” in AES-256 refers to the key-combination size, and 256-bit encryption has an impossibly large number of possible combinations.
